Cool 2 piece set of Solimene Vietri Majolica Hand-Painted Pottery Pieces - Large Charger-Platter-Chop Plate & Large Bowl.
These lovely pottery pieces were made in Italy and the Solimene Vietri makers mark including the chicken is on the bottom of each piece.
Pattern is rare - Aqua Greenish Blue & Pink "Spongelike" Concentric Pattern.
Large bowl measures 11 5/8" top diameter X 3 1/2" tall
Charger measures 15.25" in diameter X 1.75" tall
Majolica pottery is earthen clayware coated with a white glaze and later hand-painted. This piece has atypical pottery and paint/glaze imperfections as well as unequal paint distribution which is also atypical of this type of pottery-some areas the aqua and or pink paint is darker than in other areas.
Pattern was unable to be located with much research, however, these pieces would accent and mix well with many of the Solimene Vietri patterns with similar colors.
Nice used condition with atypical pottery & paint impertections. One small spot on the rim is without paint/hard to ascertain if it is a knick or just a missed paint spot which is very common during the majoica pottery glazing/painting process. There are also a few spots on the back that appear to have paint touchups along with leftover sticker residue.   Please view ALL PHOTOS and reach out if you have any questions PRIOR to purchasing.
